Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Liz is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with a focus on early years neurodiversity and autism. She has extensive experience working across community early years services, complex needs settings, and specialist schools, where she carries out comprehensive assessments and delivers highly individualised support for children and their families.
A central part of Liz’s work involves parent-mediated approaches, supporting caregivers to play an active and confident role in their child’s communication development. She believes that the best outcomes are achieved by building on each child’s natural interests and strengths. Liz is a certified practitioner and trainer in both iBASIS and PACT. She is passionate about these evidence-based, neurodiversity-affirming models and has seen firsthand their impact in empowering parents and fostering meaningful communication growth. As parents embed these approaches into everyday interactions, this supports children to generalise their skills across different settings.
Liz draws on a range of evidence-based approaches to support language development, tailoring her intervention to each child’s needs. She embeds approaches such as parent-child interaction therapy strategies, focused stimulation, repetition, and priming techniques to reinforce new vocabulary and sentence structures within meaningful interactions. To support the development of grammar and expressive language, she incorporates visual frameworks such as Colourful Semantics, alongside narrative-based approaches to help children build sentence structure, sequencing, and storytelling skills. She also has experience in supporting speech sound development, including phonological therapy, to help children develop clearer and more intelligible speech. These approaches are delivered in a practical, engaging way that supports children to use their skills in everyday contexts.
Collaboration is at the heart of Liz’s practice. She works closely with families, educators, and other professionals to create supportive communication environments at home and in educational settings. This includes embedding practical strategies, adapting environments, and implementing AAC approaches where appropriate. Liz also provides training, mentoring, and supervision to education professionals, helping to build confidence and expertise in specialist communication approaches.
Her clinical work is grounded in a strong understanding of the differences between language and social communication needs, enabling her to offer tailored, responsive support in both areas. She is committed to delivering compassionate, respectful, and child-led therapy that builds on each child’s strengths and supports them to communicate in ways that are authentic and meaningful.
