Why do I need an assessment?
Everyone has an individual profile, and the assessment is a way of understanding the person's strengths and needs to better understand and support them. Most people get by in day-to-day life, but sometimes, they need to feel understood and know that adults are working with them to achieve their full potential.
What will happen in the assessment?
Depending on individual preference, the assessment can be carried out using a combination of online and face-to-face meetings.
We meet the young person to get to know them, find out about their interests, views and opinions. The therapist may also ask the young person to describe some pictures, cartoons, and a book to understand their style and ask about their experiences with friendships in school, at home or in work and what helps them the most. The therapist may recommend further in-depth assessment, support and intervention.
How will the assessment help?
The individual profile will help make a personal plan to help parents, teachers, colleagues, and other family members understand what works well and adjust their style of interaction to help the young person feel more comfortable and accepted. The person may be involved in the plan to describe the techniques and strategies that work best to help them feel more comfortable.
How does the video teleconference consultation work?
A link will be sent to book a consultation date and time, and you will receive a secure online link. Online meetings may be more comfortable and convenient for some people, as they can remain in their home environment without travelling.
What should I do if I can't attend?
Please email the Roundway Centre as soon as possible to cancel your appointment. We will then be able to offer an alternative date.
