Senior Specialist Psychologist SEN Consultant

Helen is dedicated to building confidence and self-esteem in young people, enabling them to flourish and realise their potential, and removing the barriers by working closely with families, schools and other professionals as part of the Roundway Centre multidisciplinary team. With both a psychology and education background, Helen supports children's emotional, social and academic development, providing a safe and nurturing environment. Helen has over 10 years of senior leadership experience in outstanding, high-performing schools, starting as Assistant and Deputy Head before progressing to Head Teacher.

Helen is qualified to complete ADI-R and ADOS-2 autism diagnostic assessments following NICE guidelines. She has a wide range of experience working with children of all ages. She has specific experience working with young people who display a more subtle autistic profile and may experience secondary anxiety or a demand-avoidant profile. Helen compiles detailed and highly personalised reports to empower the young person to understand their unique profile, with specific insight and recommendations to support their family and school. Helen also provides highly personalised therapeutic support for young people, both with and without an autism diagnosis. Helen is a trained PACT therapist dedicated to early intervention to support children with early social and communication skills. She is also a designated Safeguarding Lead, working closely with external agencies.

As an SEN Consultant, Helen has a wide range of experience supporting pupils with complex additional needs, working with children, families and staff as part of a therapeutic and holistic approach to ensure there is personalised support to meet their needs. Helen supports schools with the SEND process and can help schools or families complete EHC plans to provide additional support from the local authority. Helen is highly experienced at planning and leading INSET training within education settings to raise autism awareness, grounded in current educational and psychological research. Helen also provides training to support individuals in their school setting, enabling staff and peers to learn more about their unique profile.
